UF volleyball team outlasts Ole Miss in five sets

OXFORD, Miss. – The 12th-ranked UF volleyball team defeated the Ole Miss Rebels in five sets on Friday night in the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.

Ole Miss (14-9, 6-6) took the first set 25-23, but the Gators (19-3, 10-1) battled back to take the second set 25-15. The Rebels won the third set 25-21, but Florida forced a deciding fifth set after winning the fourth 25-14. Florida came out victorious with the 15-8 win in the final set.

Four Gators finished the night in double-digit kills: Thayer Hall (23), Rachael Kramer (18), Holly Carlton (12) and Paige Hammons (11).

Hall’s 23 kills were just two shy of her career-best, while Kramer’s 18 were a season-best.

Marlie Monserez led the team in assists, dishing out a career-high 63 in the five-setter.

Allie Gregory controlled the backcourt defense for the Gators, notching 22 digs in the match. Hall added 14 digs, while Monserez and Hammons both pitched in 11.

Florida recorded a season-high 17 blocks, led by seven from Carlton. Hall added five, while Kramer, Lauren Dooley and Darrielle King each pitched in four on the night.

The Gators are back in action on Sunday against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET on the SEC Network +.
