Florida picked an ideal weekend to host a pair of top power forward prospects in the Class of 2017
Four-star forwards Xavier Tillman and Lance Thomas will both take official visits to UF the weekend of Sept. 9-11. That coincides with UF’s 2006-07 basketball national title reunion. The back-to-back national title teams will be honored during UF’s football game against Kentucky on Sept. 10.
Tillman (6-foot-8, 230 pounds), a four-star prospect from Grand Rapids, Mich., has Florida in his final four with Purdue, Michigan State and Marquette. Thomas (6-8, 210, Norcross, Ga.) has UF in his final four with Miami, Louisville and USC. Some in basketball circles think that Tillman may be leaning to play closer to home, while Thomas is more open to venture out-of-state.
In other recruiting news, top 2017 in-state 6-5 wing prospect Chaundee Brown (Orlando, First Academy) announced last week Florida was in his final four with Kansas, Maryland and Wake Forest. Brown is ranked as the 44th best player in the country and eighth best shooting guard per recruiting website 24.7.com.
