Class of 2010 forward prospect Will Yeguete is visiting Florida this weekend.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound Yeguete has spent the last two seasons playing at Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, the same school that produced former Gator guard Walter Hodge.

“He’s continued to improve,” said Nike Team Florida travel-league coach Tom Topping, who coached Yeguete over the summer. “Last summer he was an integral part of our team making the Peach Jam final four and doing well in other tournaments.”

Topping said that Yeguete played mostly power forward at Team Florida.

“He’s got broad shoulders,” Topping said. “Does he have an SEC ready body yet? Probably not, but with a good nutrition program he will get stronger. He’s very versatile and he’s building skills on the perimeter. He’ll probably end up a wing player wherever he goes at the Division I level.”

Defensively, Topping said Yeguete is a terrific rebounder, “He probably needs to improve his lateral quickness guarding on the perimeter,” Topping said. “But he has very good instincts going after the ball.”

According to Topping, Yeguete has narrowed his final three to Florida, Indiana and Georgia Tech.

“I would say that his interest in Florida is very high,” Topping said. “It’s definitely a popular destination for kids in the state.”
