Kenny Boynton is due to announce his oral commitment at 6:30 tonight on ESPNU.
Boynton (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) took his official visit to Florida over the weekend, leading to speculation that the Class of 2009 standout guard from Plantation-American High school will commit to the Gators. However, sources that I’ve talked to say that both Georgia Tech and Duke remain in the mix.
Boynton has canceled his visit to Texas this weekend.
I had a chance to watch Boynton over the summer at the AAU championships. The best way I can describe him is a more muscular version of Anthony Roberson. Boynton will take a high volume of shots, but isn’t afraid to shoot in the clutch with the game on the line, and has underrated point guard skills.
Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens tonight.
Boynton, who is the eighth-ranked prospect in the nation according to Scout.com, was high school teammates with current UF freshman forward Eloy Vargas.
