On the recruiting trail, it appears that Florida coach Billy Donovan showed slight interest in another prospect with famous basketball genes.
Donovan and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski watched Class of 2010 forward Shawn Kemp Jr., play this week at the Reebok All-American camp in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-9 Kemp is the son of former Seattle SuperSonics forward Shawn Kemp, who infamously fathered at least eight different kids with six different mothers.
Here’s a link to the story on Kemp Jr.
Florida received a commitment from Austin Rivers, the son of former NBA point guard and current Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers, earlier this week. Current Gator point guard Jai Lucas is the son of former NBA point guard and coach John Lucas. And, of course, the Gators back-to-back title runs in 2006-07 were fueled by athletes with accomplished fathers, including Al Horford (son of former NBA center Tito Horford), Taurean Green (son of former NBA forward Sidney Green) and Joakim Noah (son of French Open tennis champion Yannick Noah).
