Postcard from Fayetteville

Here, in the Northwest corner of Arkansas, you can’t go more than an hour without hearing someone call for the Hogs.

I heard the “woo … pig soey chant” eveywhere, at restaurants, bars, even at the local Walgreens.

I travel here once every two years and each time I come back there are more buildings, more traffic. A Double-A baseball team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (a Kansas City Royals affiliate), will debut this spring at a newly built stadium in Springdale.

Had a chance to hit Dickson Street on Friday night, a row of bars and restaurant. The dueling grand pianos at Willie D’s was fun, though I heard from some of the Arkansas media that it’s been the site of a few scuffles involving football players. Fortunately, there were no Darren McFadden or Bobby Petrino sightings Friday night.
