While his friends and former classmates are training in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, junior Al Horford has opted to stay in Gainesville to prepare for the NBA draft.
The 6-foot-9 Horford has been working out all week at the Florida basketball facility with coach Billy Donovan. Horford, projected as high as the third overall pick in some mock draft Web sites, said he plans to join Florida teammates Joakim Noah and Corey Brewer in Los Angeles next week.
“It’s going well,” Horford said following a Friday workout. “I’m doing a lot of fade-away jump shots, different drills to get my game more well-rounded. Going from college to the NBA is a big step and I’m trying to get ready for that step.”
Horford said he will get weighed and measured at the NBA predraft camp in Orlando but won’t take part in the workouts there. NBA teams can begin individual workouts for players June 5.
