Top-ranked Florida returns to the baseball diamond for a 6 p.m. game today against Florida Atlantic at McKethan Stadium after enjoying an off day Monday following an opening weekend sweep of Siena.
Freshman righty Jack Leftwich will make his first start for the Gators.
While UF’s pitching was strong as usual in the three wins, the Gators’ offense produced 36 runs on 44 hits (.396 average). The 36 runs were the most in a three-game series since scoring 38 against South Carolina in 2015 and 21 of Florida’s 44 hits went for extra bases: 14 doubles, a triple and six home runs.
After today’s game against the Owls (3-0), the Gators entertain Bethune-Cookman at 6 p.m. Wednesday before a weekend series at Miami starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and Sunday’s is a 12 p.m. start.
