Florida’s 38-22 loss to Florida State Saturday wasn’t their only one of the night.

Jacob Copeland, the No. 7-ranked wide receiver in the 2018 class by 247Sports, announced via Twitter his de-commitment from the University of Florida.

Copeland committed to the Gators on Aug. 2, but has continued taking recruiting visits throughout his senior year, most notably to Alabama.

With Copeland’s de-commitment, the Gators have 16 verbal commitments in the 2018 class.

  1. Can the UF Communications Office get involved in this mess? Florida appears to be desperate and reacting to the circumstances they have created. The Gators Sports budget is $130M. A little strategiy and proactive PR would help.

  2. They need to get on it. Frost is prob Nebraskas guy – and that makes sense. So don’t waste time or money on that. At this point I don’t think Gary Patterson is leaving TCU, and Stoops is prob not coming out of retirement. The only viable candidates with big enough names are Mike Leach and Jon Gruden. IF that can’t happen quick then just have an interim coach for a full year or two to sort it out. Dont waste time and money on a bad fit. I’d advocate making a big deal about bringing back Spurrier (not calling it interim). HE could bolster recruiting if guys want to play for a legendary coach. They CANNOT screw this up. The hire MUST be someone with clout or else its a waste of effort, money etc…
