Duke, North Carolina fall as Gonzaga remains No. 1 in USA TODAY Sports men's basketball poll
It was an odd week in men’s college basketball, in which the top two teams in last week's poll were unable to take the court due to COVID-19 issues. As such, there are few changes at the top of the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll.
Gonzaga retains the top spot with 24 of 32 first-place votes, followed by No. 2 Baylor with six first-place votes
Iowa, which was able to play and picked up a couple of impressive wins, remains No. 3 and adds a second first-place vote to it resume. Michigan State, Kansas and Villanova in the next three spots also are unchanged.
West Virginia moves up to No. 7, leapfrogging No. 8 Houston. Creighton slips a couple of positions to No. 9. Tennessee vaults six places to round out the top 10.
It was a rough week for usual ACC contenders North Carolina and Duke. Both took losses in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge series but stay in the poll for now. The Tar Heels fall seven slots to No. 21, while the Blue Devils take tumbled 12 places to No. 23.
Three teams join the poll, led by No. 18 Missouri and No. 20 San Diego State. No. 24 Michigan also moves in.
Virginia Tech, Arizona State and Florida fall out.
