Sipsey Valley's Martavious Russell voted boys high school athlete of the week

Sipsey Valley's Martavious Russell was voted Tuscaloosa News' boys high school athlete of the week.

Russell scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 73-40 playoffs win against Faith Academy.

Russell totaled 27,532 votes, topping Pickens Academy's Lane Lowery (25,204), Winfield's Brady Franks (8,515) and Northside's Brandon Fenimore (2,286). 

Lowery pitched five innings for a win against Southern Academy, striking out seven and allowing four hits and two walks. 

Franks scored 18 points and hauled in six rebounds in a 60-28 win against Danville in the AHSAA 3A playoffs.

Fenimore hit 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, four RBIs and one run scored in a 16-1 win against Holy Spirit. He was the winning pitcher, throwing 1 2/3 innings and allowing one hit and no runs with four strikeouts. He got the win in a 19-3 decision against Paul W. Bryant, striking six out in three innings, and batted 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored.
