The OU softball team ended the 2022 NCAA regular season ranked No. 1 -- where the Sooners have been ranked since March 2, 2021.

Their post-season trek toward a second-consecutive NCAA softball championship continues in the Norman regional of the NCAA Division I Softball Championship Friday, May 20, through Sunday, May 22, in Norman.

The Sooners (49-2, 17-1) were announced the No. 1 overall seed in the 64-team 2022 NCAA Tournament during Sunday's selection show.

OU softball finished the 2022 regular season with a three-game sweep of the No. 7 Oklahoma State Cowgirls.

In the 2022 Big 12 softball tournament, the Sooners came in second after losing to Oklahoma State 4-3. 

During the 2022 regular season, OU softball won 35 games in run-rule decisions, and saw OU slugger Jocelyn Alo break the NCAA softball home run record when she hit her 96th career blast against Hawaii March 11.

The OU softball team improved to 45-1 this season with a 9-1 win at Kansas on Sunday.

In 2021, the Sooners won the Big 12 softball title on their way to a national championship that saw Florida State take OU to a third and deciding game in the 2021 WCWS.
