BATON ROUGE - LSU football defensive end BJ Ojulari is expected to return to the lineup this week against Mississippi State, coach Brian Kelly told reporters on Monday.

Ojulari sat out Saturday's win over Southern due to a knee injury he suffered in the season opener against Florida State. The junior came out of the game briefly in the first quarter before returning and playing the rest of the game.

"We expect him to be available based upon my conversations with my doctors yesterday," Kelly said.

The Tigers (1-1) face Mississippi State (2-0) in Baton Rouge to kick off SEC play on Saturday (5 p.m., ESPN).

Even prior to Ojulari's injury, the Tigers were lacking depth on the defensive line against Southern.

Against the Seminoles, starting defensive end Ali Gaye committed a targeting penalty which forced him to sit out the first half while star defensive tackle Maason Smith tore his ACL in the first quarter.
