See Dale Brown receive a standing ovation as LSU dedicates Maravich Center court to him


LSU dedicated the basketball court at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to former men's basketball coach Dale Brown prior to the men's basketball game against Kentucky on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022.
Brown was the LSU men's basketball head coach from 1972-97. He guided the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament on 13 occasions.
A corner of the basketball court now says "Dale Brown Court" with Brown's name written in cursive above it.
When Brown walked out to see his name on the court prior to the game, he received a standing ovation.

Just before they pulled a tarp off the spot on the court that now adorns Brown's name, he was introduced as "The winningest coach in LSU history: Dale Brown."
The LSU vs. Kentucky men's basketball game started at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday.

There was an additional halftime ceremony for Dale Brown that included his former players on the court with him.
Part of what Brown said at halftime, "Thanks is a simple, one-syllable word, but when used with sincerity, there is no more powerful word in the world than thanks."
LSU defeated Kentucky 65-60.
LSU, ranked No. 21 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll, improved to 13-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC. No. 13-ranked Kentucky went to 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the SEC.
