Alabama football is bringing in Derek Dooley as a senior offensive analyst, per a report from FootballScoop.

Dooley previously worked with coach Nick Saban at LSU and with the Miami Dolphins. Dooley is no stranger to the SEC, having served as Tennessee's coach from 2010-12. Dooley also worked as Missouri's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2018-19, coaching future Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock.

Dooley spent 2021 as the tight ends coach of the New York Giants.

His father is Vince Dooley, who coached the Georgia Bulldogs for 25 years and won six SEC titles and a national championship in 1980.

Derek Dooley is not the only analyst whom the Crimson Tide is adding to the staff. Former LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger is listed as an analyst on Alabama's staff directory.

Tennessee hired Dooley to replace Lane Kiffin, now Ole Miss' coach. Another former Tennessee coach who joined Alabama's staff as an analyst was Butch Jones, who's now Arkansas State's coach. Jones replaced Dooley.

After his time with the Volunteers, Dooley joined the Dallas Cowboys and served as receivers coach from 2013-17.
