On Tuesday night, Alabama football wide receiver DeVonta Smith won the 2020 Heisman Trophy.

Smith received 447 first-place votes and 1,856 total points.

Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 as the Florida Gators quarterback, and as a former Heisman winner, Tebow has a vote for the Heisman Trophy.

"I think the right guy won it," Tebow said Tuesday night on SEC Network. "I think what DeVonta did this year was incredible. I think not only his ability to run routes, but his ability to lead, his ability to help on special teams, his ability to make an impact in the biggest games. I mean, when you look at the biggest games of the season, you saw DeVonta Smith stepping up in the biggest moments of those games over, and over, and over again. That's why I think the right guy won the award."

Through the first 12 games of the 2020-21 Alabama football season, Smith has 105 receptions for 1,641 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns. He also has nine punt returns for 219 yards and one touchdown.

"He really is just like silly smooth," Tebow said. "It's unbelievable. I tell you what, I can't wait to watch him play one more time. That's going to be incredible. I think he's going to put on another show in the natty (national championship)."

Alabama is scheduled to play Ohio State in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. CT.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting with 1,187 points, and Alabama quarterback Mac Jones came in third with 1,130 points.

Tebow revealed that he voted Jones ahead of Lawrence.

"I was a little surprised that Mac wasn't No. 2 and that Trevor was No. 2," Tebow said. "I think that has to do with Trevor's amazing career, but when I think you look at just this season, I would have had Mac above Trevor — I did have Mac above Trevor.
