TJ Finley joined Auburn as a transfer after spring practice following one season at LSU.

Finley started five games in Baton Rouge, leading the Tigers to a 2-3 record as a starter in 2020.

In his high school career in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, he accumulated 72 touchdowns — 58 passing and 14 rushing. During his three-year varsity career, he threw 7,357 passing yards.

TJ Finley made his LSU football debut due to a Myles Brennan injury

TJ Finley made his debut for the LSU football team by starting the game against South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 24. 

Finley replaced starting quarterback Myles Brennan, who suffered an abdomen tear on Oct. 10. 

Against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Finely went 17-for-21 passing with 265 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed eight times for 24 yards and a rushing touchdown. 

LSU beat South Carolina 52-24. 

After failing to keep LSU starting spot, TJ Finley transferred to Auburn

Finley started five games, earning wins over South Carolina and Arkansas but also falling against Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M.

Overall, Finley threw for 941 yards and five touchdowns with five interceptions before being benched for Max Johnson, who then led wins over Florida and Ole Miss to end the season.

Following spring practice, Finley transferred from LSU to Auburn and has served as Bo Nix's backup through the first three games of the 2021 season.

TJ Finley lost 25 pounds during the pandemic

When TJ Finley enrolled at LSU in January 2020, he estimates that he weighed 265 pounds. 

"It's an embarrassing number," Finley said after LSU beat South Carolina on Oct. 24. "I was huge." 

His teammates let him know his weight would be more appropriate for a defensive tackle. 

"When COVID hit and we went into quarantine, I took it upon myself to trim down in weight," Finley said. "It's paying off well." 

The motivation fueled Finley to lose about 25 pounds before the 2020 LSU football season started. 

TJ Finley played high school basketball 

TJ Finley averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds a game as a junior for Ponchatoula in 2018-19, according to Max Preps. The team went 27-7. 

"I've played basketball since I was 4 years old," Finley said in July 2018 to The Advocate. "Football was always my first love because I just loved having the ball in my hands, making all the decisions and making sure I'm make everybody around me better."

Finley wore No. 24 for Ponchatoula and was listed as a shooting guard/small forward by Hudl

TJ Finley's brother is three-star recruit Kody Finley

TJ Finley has a brother, Kody Finley, that is a wide receiver at Ponchatoula High School in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and Kody Finley is part of the Class of 2022. 

Kody Finley has received scholarship offers from Indiana, Kansas, Memphis, and New Mexico at the FBS level, according to 247Sports. He is 6 feet, 5 inches tall and 187 pounds, according to Hudl
