Gadsden State to host summer youth basketball camps June 28-29

Times Staff Report
Gadsden State men's basketball coach Deddric Tarver looks on during a game during the 2019-20 season.

After a one-year layoff, Gadsden State's summer youth camps, including basketball, are returning.

According to a press release, the school's athletic department department will host a basketball camp June 28-29 for boys and girls grades 2-6 at Beck Field House at the school's Wallace Drive campus.

“It’s great to have an opportunity to host these camps again for the youth in our community,” Gadsden State Athletic Director Mike Cancilla said in the release. “All of our camps and programs were postponed last year due to the worldwide pandemic. Gadsden State has sponsored summer youth enrichment activities for more than 20 years, and it’s good to be able to return to hosting basketball and volleyball camps for athletes from the second grade to 12th grade.”

The youth basketball camp's registration fee is $50 for both days or $30 for one day. For more information, contact Gadsden State men's basketball coach and camp director Deddric Tarver at 205-368-2353.
