Jessica Springsteen, shown competing in the Winter Equestrian Festival in 2019, was the Nations Cup winner during this past season's equestrian competition in Wellington.

WELLINGTON — Olympic hopeful Jessica Springsteen is among 10 show jumpers selected for the U.S. Jumping Team Olympic Short List.

The 29-year-old daughter of legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, and Nations Cup winner, is among several familiar faces who recently completed the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit.

Palm Beach County residents Kent Farrington (Wellington) and Laura Kraut (Royal Palm Beach) joined Springsteen on the short list.

The 10 finalists will be observed by U.S. chef d'equipe Robert Ridland, U.S. Equestrian Federation managing director Lizzy Chesson and other advisors for final selection of four riders (three riders and one alternate) for the Tokyo Olympics, July 23-Aug. 8.

Athletes and horses will compete at three designated CSIO/CSI observation events in Europe, including the June 17-20 Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Poland CSIO5 in Sopot, Poland and June 24-27 Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of The Netherlands CSIO5 in Rotterdam.

The final team selection will be announced no later than July 5, subject to approval by the United States Olympic Committee.

"My dream is always to represent the United States in championships, so I am definitely always working toward that," said the No. 3 nationally-ranked Springsteen earlier this season. "I feel like I have a really good group of horses jumping great right now, so I am hoping to make that short list. I will just keep doing my best."

Springsteen will compete with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, a 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion owned by Stone Hill Farm, and RMF Zecilie, a 14-year-old Holsteiner mare owned by Rushy Marsh Farm LLC.
