Alabama football added the sixth commitment to its 2022 recruiting class Wednesday night when defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis of Columbia, Mississippi, announced on social media that he would join the Crimson Tide.

Oatis, a 6-foot-4, 350-pound defensive tackle who was first offered a scholarship by Alabama as an eighth-grader, posted the news on his Twitter account.

Earlier Wednesday, Oatis posted a video of himself bench-pressing 415 pounds.

Oatis is ranked as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite ranking, which lists him as the No. 149 prospect nationally and the No. 12 defensive tackle prospect. He chose Alabama over Ole Miss and LSU among other SEC programs.

He is also a kicker for Columbia High School.

Oatis joins defensive end Walter Bob (LaFayette, La.), tight end Elijah Brown (Dayton, Ohio), running back Emmanuel Henderson (Hartford), quarterback Ty Simpson (Martin, Tenn.) and linebacker Robert Woodyard (Mobile) in Alabama's Class of 2022.
