ATLANTA — About 90 minutes before the kickoff to the 2019 Peach Bowl, news broke that LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger lost his daughter-in-law Carley McCord in a plane crash.

McCord married Ensminger's son, Steve Ensminger Jr., in 2018.

ESPN's Holly Rowe interviewed LSU football coach Ed Orgeron about the news on SEC Network when it broke.

"We heard the news. I told coach Ensminger, 'Our thoughts and our prayers are out to him," Orgeron said. "There's not much we can say."

"Obviously, Steve, his wife, and his family are very distraught," Orgeron continued. "But Steve's a Tiger, and he's a man, and he knows how to handle things."

Rowe asked Orgeron if Ensminger will coach in Saturday's game.

"There's no question," Orgeron said, affirming that Ensminger would coach in the 2019 Peach Bowl.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said Orgeron was the one to deliver the news to Ensminger of McCord's death.
