Christian music star Lauren Daigle of Lafayette is nominated in two Grammy Award categories this year.

Lafayette native Lauren Daigle will be performing the national anthem at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in New Orleans, which happens to feature her university this year.

Daigle, a former Louisiana State University student, announced the performance in November, months before the LSU Tigers secured a spot against Clemson University. The Grammy-winning contemporary Christian artist will perform before the game on Jan. 13.

Daigle, 28, appeared on "American Idol" in 2012 and later left LSU to pursue a music career in Nashville, Tennessee.

She has released three albums since 2015 and has won and been nominated for American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, GMA Dove Awards and Grammy Awards.

Her award-winning song "You Say" from the album "Look Up Child" is among her most popular.

She currently is on a world tour that will make a stop in her hometown of Lafayette for a July 18 show at the Cajundome.
