Daily Football Fix: SEC coaches success

In today's Daily Football Fix, we take a look at the winningest football coaches in SEC history and how Dan Mullen rates:

Bear Bryant won 159 SEC games during his years coaching at Kentucky and Alabama (think how much higher the total might have been had Texas A&M been in the league when he coached there).

His total may be unreachable. I remember doing the math and telling Steve Spurrier he had a chance at SEC Media Days. He told me I was crazy. Instead, he retired that year with 131 wins.

One thing that went under the radar last year was that Dan Mullen passed Urban Meyer on the list. Meyer had 39 SEC wins and Mullen now has 44 at Miss. State and Florida.

That puts him 19th all-time in SEC wins ahead of such well-known coaches as Jackie Sherrill, Gene Stallings and Ray Graves.

Here's a look at all of the SEC active head coaches while eliminating the four newbies who have yet to coach in a league game:

Nick Saban 114

Dan Mullen 44

Gus Malzahn 33

Will Muschamp 32

Ed Orgeron 26

Kirby Smart 25

Mark Stoops 20

Derek Mason 10

Jimbo Fisher 9
