Florida basketball bracketology: Are the Gators in or out of NCAA Tournament?
Bracketology projections say Florida basketball will make the NCAA Tournament despite a bad home loss against South Carolina and two game postponements this past week.
Here are where the Gators (10-5, 6-4 SEC) are in NCAA Tournament projections as of Feb. 9:
USA TODAY Sports
The Gators are a No. 8 seed in the debut of USA TODAY Sports bracketology. They would face 9-seed Xavier.
Andy Katz also lists UF as an 8-seed in his bracket. The 9-seed in this projected matchup would be Maryland.
Joe Lunardi has Florida as a No. 7 seed in his latest bracket. The opponent would be 10-seed North Carolina.
Jerry Palm projects the Gators as a No. 6 seed in his field. He has them matched against Minnesota as an 11-seed.
Florida is an 8-seed in the newest bracket projection from The Washington Post. UF would play (9) San Diego State.
The Gators started the season with a 6-4 record before a four-game winning streak, including upsets over top-15 opponents Tennessee (6) and West Virginia (11). The latter victory put them in the AP Top 25 for the first time since November 2019, but they dropped out of the rankings with their 72-66 loss to South Carolina last Wednesday.
Florida’s next two games against LSU and Tennessee were postponed because of COVID-19 issues. UF is scheduled to host Texas A&M on Saturday, but the Aggies have had their last three games postponed due to COVID-19.
Selection Sunday will be March 14 with all games set to be played in the Indianapolis area.
