A couple of notes on Tiger Woods, who withdrew from The Players for the second year in a row.
His 42 on the front nine was his highest score at TPC Sawgrass. His previous high was 39 which he shot four times.
The 42 was not his highest score of his career. Four times he shot 43.
* 2010 at Wells Fargo in second round.
* 2007 at Bay Hill in fourth round.
* 1996 at The Tour Championship in second round.
* 1996 at US Open in first round as an amateur.
I shot 42-39 at TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course and was ELATED!
It seems to me as if he need to take a break and get himself together …
All of the early talk today was Westwood and McIlroy skipping The Players. Turns out Tiger is skipping it again, just without having to turn down Tim Finchem. Years ago I was a spectator at the 16th tee when Tiger was walking form the 15th green. He had some not so great words for what he thought of Sawgrass that I will never forget. He does not care for the golf course and showed up out of obligation to the PGA, more than we can say for two top 5 European players I suppose.
Some say golf needs Tiger Woods. I think the Masters showed otherwise. The world needs Tiger Woods — as an example of what NOT to do. Self centered jerks may ride high for a while, but it will catch up to you. See you on Sunday Mark O’Meara, Justin Leonard, and Ricky Barnes.
I’m more interested in how Brian Gay does, than Tiger Wood…same for Villigas, or any other Gator Golfer.
Tiger did nothign to increase or decrease my interest in Golf…The only thing I can say his golf presence did, was make me laugh at EVERYONE who wore a red shirt on Sunday’s!
Tiger, if he comes back, great, if not, fine!…matter’s not one bit!
Definitely needs a time out ! He’s been on quite a miserable ride for a while
except for maybe a couple porn stars here n there….which we all know is trouble…..
I suggest he hop on the boat “angler management”and spend some time there.
