Gold star: Mark Ingram. South Carolina’s rugged defense knew exactly what was coming on the clinching 68-yard drive and they couldn’t stop Ingram. He accounted for all of the yards on the drive and finished with a Bryant-Denny Stadium record of 246 yards. Ingram is now officially a darkhorse Heisman candidate, whatever that means.
Silver star: Anthony Dixon. Gators, you’d better be lifting weights this week. This guy is a load. He became Mississippi State’s leading rusher of all time on Saturday going for 134 against Middle Tennessee State and scored two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ win.
Bronze star: Jevan Snead. he’s been awful this year and threw four picks last week. But Snead rebounded against Alabama-Birmingham with 240 passing yards and three touchdowns. OK, young man, can you do it in the big games?
No star: Auburn. Bad, bad loss to Kentucky. That 5-0 start doesn’t mean a whole lot when you loss back-to-back games and have LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama left. Can you say Music City Bowl?
Quote: “They’re a great team and we just beat ourselves. They are a great defensive team but they had to play our offense. We’re probably the best offensive team they’ve faced and will face for the rest of the season.” — Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett
Umm…nice quote, Mallett…you beat yourselves??? Excuse me, but we tried to hand you that game on a silver platter. Your team didn’t have 3 red zone turnovers like we did.
