SEC Rewind: East up for grabs

Um, just wondering, but does anyone want to win the SEC East?

And before your bring up 2-0 Vanderbilt, come on. Although if the Commodores win this week against Auburn you might start taking them seriously.

The Big Three in the East ” Florida, Georgia and Tennessee ” are a collective 2-4 in conference play and each have a loss at home where you can’t afford to lose. The sleeper team in the East was supposed to be South Carolina, but nobody feels the Gamies have a chance to contend now.

Kentucky has yet to play a conference game so we find out a lot about the Cats when they travel to Alabama this week.

But it is wide open.

Of course, to say anything is wide open in college football anymore is the ultimate redundancy. There is no way to explain how Florida could lose at home to Ole Miss or how Georgia could get steamrolled at home by Alabama except to say that these things happen.

It’s clear, though, that Alabama is back and that the race in the West between Alabama and LSU will be intriguing. Jeez, we already knew Nick Saban’s return to Baton Rouge was going to be interesting. What if both teams are unbeaten?

Or what if both East unbeatens are still without a loss when they play? I’m speaking of Kentucky and Vandy. Now that’s just weird.
