LEXINGTON. Ky. ” I’ve figured it out. Kentucky is neither a basketball school or a football school. It’s a Cornhole school.
Cornhole is the name of the game that has taken this area by storm. For those of you who have never seen or heard of it, Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes.
It migrated to Lexington from nearby Cincinnati and I’m not kidding you, there are thousands of people playing in the parking lots.
Most of the platforms are slapped together by the people playing them and decorated with UK stickers or painted blue and white. One is a replica of the floor at Rupp Arena.
There is even an American Cornhole Association. And in the sports bar we went to Friday night there was a video version of the game instead of the usual Golden Tee.
