For the birds

Auburn has the legend of the War Eagle. We have the legend of the pigeon.

Early in the first quarter of Saturday’s game between Florida and Tennessee, this pigeon comes flying into the press box making everybody duck for fear of pigeon waste landing on our heads. But the pigeon flew in front of one of our reporters and perched.

And it didn’t move for the rest of the quarter.

It was weird. He just sat there with his eyes darting around the stadium as if it was bothered by all of the people who were invading his home. Finally, after Florida took a 14-3 lead, the pigeon flew away.

Maybe he wanted to be at ground level when Tony Joiner kissed Tim Tebow.

Now if the pigeon follows the Gator team plane to Tupelo, we really have a legend.
