UF volleyball team keeps winning ways on road

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 12 Florida volleyball team swept the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon in the Newell-Grissom Building.

The Gators (20-3 overall) remain atop the SEC standings with an 11-1 conference record and have now won nine matches in a row – the longest streak in the league.

Florida grabbed the first set 25-18 and followed with a 25-15 win in the second set. The Gators secured the match with a 25-21 win in the final set. 

UF’s offensive attack was led by Thayer Hall, who notched 12 kills on the afternoon. Paige Hammons and Lauren Dooley both pitched in 10 kills on the afternoon, while Rachael Kramer added eight kills. 

Five Gators hit over .300 on the afternoon: Dooley (.833 | 10-0-12), Kramer (.583 | 8-1-12), Marlie Monserez (.571 | 4-0-7), Carlton (.500 | 5-1-8) and Hammons (.308 | 10-2-26). 

Marlie Monserez dished out 41 assists on the afternoon, leading the Gators to a .398 clip in the match. 

The backcourt defense was anchored by Allie Gregory, who posted 14 digs on the afternoon. Hall added 11 and Monserez pitched in eight digs of her own.  

Florida’s serving was a strong suit against the Bulldogs, with four different Gators racking up service aces: Paige Hammons (2), Riley Fischer (2), Chanelle Hargreaves (2) and Allie Gregory (1). 

The Gators return home for a matchup against LSU on Friday at 7 p.m. The match will air on the SEC Network +.
