UF volleyball team sweeps LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The 13th-ranked Florida volleyball team swept LSU in Baton Rouge, La. on Sunday to extend its win streak to four matches.

 The Gators (15-3, 6-1 SEC) took the first set, 25-20, then followed with a 25-20 victory in the second set. UF secured the match with a 25-21 win in the final frame.

 Florida hit .276 on the afternoon, led by 18 kills from Thayer Hall. Holly Carlton posted 12 kills on the afternoon, while Paige Hammons pitched in eight in the match.

 Marlie Monserez dished out a team-high 40 assists on the afternoon, averaging 13.33 per set.

 Allie Gregory recorded a team-high 18 digs on the afternoon, pushing her into ninth-place all-time in program history with 1,174 career digs. Monserez also recorded 10 digs for a double-double, while Hall registered nine in the match.

 Florida recorded four service aces on the afternoon, compared to just one error. Carlton led the way with two, while Morgyn Greer and Monserez both pitched in one.

“Taylor Bannister had a very impressive performance. She’s a special talent and we are a better team from having played this LSU team, especially with how they have been playing as of late,” UF coach Mary Wise said.

LSU dropped to 10-8, 4-4 in the SEC.

 The Gators are back in action Friday when the Alabama Crimson Tide come to Exactech Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
