Florida’s softball team enters this weekend’s SEC softball series against No. 5 Alabama with plenty of momentum.
The No. 6 Gators are on an eight-game winning streak, which includes a 4-0 win Wednesday over No. 4 Florida State, the defending national champions, in Tallahassee. The Gators have won their last six SEC games with sweeps over Arkansas and Texas A&M. UF has 13 wins over top-25 opponents.
Plus, Florida (37-9, 9-6 SEC) is playing at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
The series, weather permitting, is scheduled to start with a doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. today. The second game is scheduled for 8 p.m. The series concludes with a single game Saturday that is slated for 2 p.m.
The Crimson Tide (42-4, 11-4) have only dropped one SEC series this season. Alabama holds a 7-2 record against ranked teams.
Florida ace Kelly Barnhill picked up her 25th victory of the season Wednesday and ranks second in the country in the category behind Louisiana’s Summer Ellyson (26).
Also, this weekend the Gators will welcome back alumni from the program.
Friday’s first game is set to be aired on ESPN2 along with Saturday’s game on ESPN.
