Three UF players were selected Tuesday, Day 2 of the MLB draft.
Junior shortstop Dalton Guthrie was selected in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Catcher Mike Rivera was picked in the sixth round, 192 overall, by Cleveland. And Mark Kolozsvary was picked in the seventh round, 197 overall, by Cincinnati.
Guthrie, the 173rd overall selection, is hitting .272, with four home runs and 22 RBIs, for the Gators, who will play in the College World Series starting this weekend.
Rivera, who was hampered by a broken hamate bone, has a .241 average this season with a pair of home runs and 24 RBIs. He is playing SEC All-Defensive caliber defense.
Kolozsvary, while not an everyday player, has flashed his potential while filling in for Rivera this season. In 16 SEC games, Kolozsvary hit .320 with 13 RBI while throwing out five of seven attempted base stealers.
UF had junior starting pitcher Alex Faedo go in Monday’s first round to the Detroit Tigers, the 18th overall selection.
