The deciding game of the weather-plagued Gainesville Super Regional late Monday afternoon was delayed three hours and 14 minutes by rain.
It restarted at 8:15 p.m. with Florida leading Wake Forest 1-0 in the top of the third inning. Rain halted play at 5:01 p.m. ESPN2 has coverage.
Saturday’s 2-1 UF win in 11 innings spanned roughly 7.5 hours after being delayed for nearly four hours heading into the bottom of the fourth inning because of rain and lightning.
Game 2 started Sunday after a 22-minute lightning delay, then halted at 5:14 p.m. and suspended at 7:50 p.m. because of rain. Wake Forest won it on Monday afternoon 8-6 in 11 innings, forcing the deciding Game 3.
The winner advances to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, where it will face TCU at 7 p.m. Sunday (ESPN2). It’s the fifth CWS bid for the Horned Frogs (47-16), all since 2010. TCU, the No. 6 national seed, is looking for its first championship.
Cal State Fullerton, TCU, Florida State and LSU wrapped up their super regionals Sunday.
The Titans, Horned Frogs, Seminoles and Tigers will join No. 1 national seed Oregon State, No. 7 Louisville and Texas A&M in the CWS, which starts Saturday.
