Florida sweeps Alabama in SEC volleyball

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 11 Florida volleyball team stayed unbeaten in SEC play Sunday after sweeping Alabama.

Florida won the first two sets, 25-20, then clinched the match with a 26-24 win in the third set. The Gators improved to 13-3 oveall and 4-0 in the SEC while extending their winning streak to nine matches.

“This was a great win against an Alabama team that played really well, especially in their pursuit of balls in the back row,” UF coach Mary Wise said. “One of the keys to this win was the offensive production by our middles, which is a product of the job done by our back row and setters.”

The middles led the way offensively for Florida, with Taelor Kellum recording a career-high 12 kills and Rachael Kramer adding 10 of her own. Allie Monserez dished out 18 assists, while Marlie Monserez registered 15 of her own. The backcourt was controlled by Allie Gregory, who recorded 12 digs.

The Gators were a force at the net as well, recording 11 team blocks – including six by Kramer.

Florida returns home for two matches this weekend, facing Texas A&M on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Georgia on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be on the SEC Network.
