Aggies eliminate Gators in SEC tournament

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — No. 2-seeded Texas A&M defeated No. 3-seeded Florida in overtime 2-1 on Thursday.

Freshman Rheagen Smith scored for Texas A&M (16-2-1) in the 69th minute, tying the game.

Sarah Troccoli put the Gators on the scoreboard with her third goal of the season at the 30-minute mark.

The Gators (14-6) and Aggies battled through overtime until a Florida player scored on her own goal, givng Texas A&M the win.

No. 2 seed Texas A&M and No. 8 seed Arkansas will face each other in the championship game on Sunday.

The Gators return to Gainesville to await their NCAA Tournament assignment.

Too much talent to constantly underperform in SEC tournament and NCAA.Becky is obsessed with possession which leads to numerous turnovers near our goal.And one of our best players(Monteagu ?) hardly plays anymore and did not see the field last night.She was one of the top scorers last year.Maybe has a personality conflict with the coach

  2. Kudos to the writer for not naming the girl who scored an own goal. She was totally distraught as it happened. That said, our defense has been shaky all year, so only appropriate that two defensive errors cost us the game. I expect the NCAA tourney will end the same after a couple of wins. Team is talented but way too conservative. Doesn’t help when one best player is with her national team and the other has one leg.
