ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Florida opens defense of its Southeastern Conference Soccer Tournament title at 3:30 p.m. today in the quarterfinal round against Auburn at the Orange Beach SportsPlex. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
The Gators (13-5 overall) are the tournament’s No. 3 seed after posting a 7-3 league record. Auburn, the sixth seed, enters at 7-5-5, 4-2-4 SEC.
Florida advanced to the SEC Tournament each year of the program’s history, winning a league-high 12 titles including the 2015 and 2016 crowns. This is the second time in the program’s 23 SEC Tournament appearances Florida opens play against an opponent it lost to in regular-season play (AU 1-0 win on Oct. 15). Florida faced South Carolina in the 2002 SEC Tournament opening round, a team that took a 1-0 overtime win to open 2002 regular-season league action (UF won 2-1 in SEC Tournament meeting).
