Gators in the NFL: Thompson cut by Bears

Wide Receiver Deonte Thompson was released by the Chicago Bears on Wednesday. Thompson played in all five of Chicago’s games this season totaling 125 yards on 11 receptions and a touchdown.

Around the League, tight end Trey Burton found the end zone for Philadelphia on just his fourth catch of the year.

Jets safety Marcus Maye intercepted his first pass as a pro against Cleveland as the Browns were deep in Jets territory and Maye made the pick on the goal line. Maye also had four tackles and two pass deflections in the game.

Linebacker Jarrad Davis returned from a neck injury this week and recorded eight tackles, two for a loss, and deflected a pass in the Lions’ home loss against the Panthers on Sunday.

Linebacker Antonio Morrison tallied seven tackles for the Colts as Indianapolis beat the San Francisco 49ers 26-23 in overtime.
