Updated, Gators in the NFL: Lions rule out Davis with concussion

Detroit linebacker Jarrad Davis has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Atlanta because of a concussion, the team announced Friday.

Davis, the team’s first-round draft pick this year out of UF, was hurt in Monday’s win over the New York Giants.

The Lions also announced that they have released defensive end Earl Okine from the practice squad.

In other news involving former UF players, running back Matt Jones was promoted from the Colts practice squad. The team also waived guard Ian Silberman, who also once played at UF before transferring to Boston College. Jones was claimed by Indianapolis on waivers earlier this month after being released by Washington.

The Buffalo Bills released former Gators linebacker Jelani Jenkins on Tuesday. The 25-year-old free agent never played a down for the Bills, as he was listed as inactive last week in Buffalo’s road game against Carolina.

NOTE:

• The Colts have listed cornerback Quincy Wilson as inactive against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
• The Steelers will be without right tackle Marcus Gilbert, who missed practice this week because of a hamstring injury and an illness.
• This Gators in The NFL list only includes the players who finished their college careers at UF and didn’t transfer to finish up elsewhere.
