For the second consecutive year, a Florida vs. Florida State soccer match has been called off because of a hurricane threat.
Last year’s soccer contest in Tallahassee was washed out by Hurricane Hermine.
Tonight’s match scheduled for 7 p.m. was canceled Thursday night after Florida Gov. Rick Scott ordered all state colleges and universities closed through Monday in order to support shelter and emergency relief efforts.
Today’s 5 p.m. Florida home volleyball match against Michigan State was still on the schedule as of late Thursday night.
“Two years in a row, hurricane season gets the best of UF v FSU soccer!” UF coach Becky Burleigh wrote on her Twitter account. “We will try to reschedule.”
