The way Mizzou shot was a wish from Aladdin. A one-time deal so I’m over it. Still the defense could have had a better fight, but it’s tough to stop ANY team that hits 63%.

I have an idea. Forget Vegas, 247 recruiting classes, Mel Kiper and all the others who make a living on “what if” or who has the most 5-star 18-year old recruits. Just play the games and see how well the coaches have done with what they have.
Cases in point: Did anyone see the 2005-06 Gator NC in basketball coming? Did anyone see Joe barrow and LSU coming this past season? Did anyone see Kyle Trask coming in for Franks and taking Gators to a NY6 Bowl?
The only thing certain in sports is that nothing is certain.

I am sorry to see him go. A bit of a surprise as he, I believe, was a red-shirt sophomore and has 2 more years to play NCAA FOOTBALL. I can only guess that Mullen could not tell him he was guaranteed to be the starter in 2020. Still, All the best Felipe. You will always be welcome back at the Swamp.

Trask won’t be all-american as voters are impressed with “style points,:” not results. Trask does not look like a 6-3, 235 lb. QB who can throw the ball 75 yds., run circles around DBs and talk with all the attitude of someone running for congress. He might hit 80% of his passes, throw 35 TD passes vs. 5 picks and run for a dozen first downs in 2020, but he “has no style,” as one draft expert wrote. Style points. I wonder how many TDs that means in the NFL?

Note: The “Heave to Cleve” at LSU was actually thrown by Austin Appleby.

CBS SPORTS HAS GIVEN THE GATORS AND SEC THE SHAFT. THEY HAVE 3 BIG 10 TEAMS IN THE BCS GAMES AND 2 SEC TEAMS (LSU AND GEORGIA). THEY HAVE GATORS IN ORLANDO VS. MINNESOTA. PLEASE TELL ME HOW BIG OF A TV AUDIENCE WILL MEMPHIS ST. VS. UTAH DRAW IN THE COTTON BOWL?

I have 2 cousins who went to FSU. They have stopped responding to my text messages and phone calls. I remind them I had to hear their spit for years when FSU was regularly catching Gators and using them for fish bait and grilled gator-steaks. Well, it’s our turn now so suck it up all you Semilosers.

Hope is a good thing. However, this year’s Gator team is not, in my opinion, a national title team. Maybe 11-2. Next year, however, I expect them to challenge for the spot in the final four.

Vegas bookies took a bath with that final 76 yd. TD run with 50 seconds left. An 8 pt. Gator win covered the spread for early Florida bettors and late Kentucky backers. Too freakin bad for the bookies. They don’;t build those mega-casinos with money the bettors won.

TY Sylvester. Guess I just enjoy sitting in my living room listening to Mick Huber while watching the game on TV in mute mode. I think it’s WDAE’s loss, but to listen to their PR for the USF Bulls you would think USF is heading for the national championship game. LOL. Vanderbilt will be in the national title game before USF–and i will be long gone from this earth. USF football is, to me, Div.-II football, playing UConn, Louisville, Memphis St. and a host of other big-time basketball schools. Unfortunately, this is football we are talking about. USF instead of the Gators? Spare me. LOL again.

Yeah, I’m one of the older Gator fans who remember when Gators played Miami every year. Let’s hope the 80s and 90s Canes ghost does not reappear. PS: I am so old I remember George Mira’s left-handed TD pass to beat the GAtors @ 1972. I remember Jones’ one-handed catch, stumbling backwards, to score and beat the Canes in 1984. Nice post from you.

Which combination is the best Gator football uniform?
My opinion is the home standard of Gator Blue and White pants with Orange trim.
I do like the orange jerseys on occasion. Sports Illus. several years ago had Gator uniform schemes in Top 10 of college football. They had the USC Trojan colors as No. 1. Jeez.

If you can’t hit at LEAST 35 % from 3 pt. range, you are in trouble. I also do not understand why some players suddenly just stop moving without the ball. I’m sure White has back-door screens, weak-side roll ups and other plays that require movement without the ball, but sometimes I see some guys just standing around watching Nembs dribble nowhere. WTH?

Mvveal: You are right on about the algorithims. Here’s another one:

USF attendance is about 30,000 a game at RayJay stadium in Tampa, a 15-20 minute drive from anywhere in the Bay area. Gators complain when they only get 80,000—and everyone of them makes a 1-3 hour drive to get to Gainesville. Take a marketing survey of Gator fans who attend the game. See how much they spend every weekend they go to Gainesville, and what they buy when home, then do the same for the 30,000 bumpkins who got to a USF game. And you are right about USF. They are a MINOR university and have NO CHANCE of ever competing for a national title. It’s all economics. I think I can get the Gators on 930 AM or 1210 AM (wauchula radio), unless some station steps up to get the 11th largest media market in the US for Gator games. And who would EVER WANT to listen to a USF basketball game. And I played at USF back in the day when they first started Bball. Getting 2,000 fans at a bball game is a big deal at USF.

Stl Gator: I like the Gator secondary. A lot of returning DBs plus former starter Wilson is back from injury.
