We may not know until next week whether freshman wide receiver Andre Debose will undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his hamstring.
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday that the team doctors and trainers are still gathering information about the injury. He said a decision might not come until early next week.
Debose injured his hamstring at the state track meet in the spring. It was thought at the time that it was just a pulled or strained hamstring and that it would heal with time, but it has not.Debose underwent an MRI this past weekend and it revealed the tear.
If Debose does have surgery, it likely would lead to him redshirting this season.
With Debose and senior Carl Moore (back) out, the Gators are extremely thin at wide receiver. UF also has only one scholarship tight end (Aaron Hernandez) who is ready to play. His backup is walk-on Christopher Coleman.
