Florida’s 2021 class – which is currently ranked top-5 by 247Sports – received a commitment Tuesday morning from one of the top prospects locally.
Trevonte Rucker, a 6-foot, 160-pound wide receiver out of Vanguard High, committed to the Gators and coach Dan Mullen over offers from Florida State and Georgia.

It’s not Rucker’s first commitment to the Gators, either. Rucker, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 22 wide receiver in the 2021 class, committed to Florida on Nov. 28, 2018 during his sophomore season at Vanguard. But following the conclusion of UF’s spring camp in 2019, Rucker re-opened his recruitment and visited a pair of in-state programs in USF and Florida State.
Now, making sure to note his recruitment is “shut down”, he’s the 11th prospect to commit to Florida’s 2021 class.
Langston coming next. Recruiting seems to be going well.
Welcome to the Gator Nation, Trevonte! I was hoping you would come back into the fold, and sure enough, you did! All four of you guys are going to make a really big impact at UF. Glad that you are all local – I graduated from PK Yonge many years – we used to play Dunnellon. GO GATORS!!!
This 2021 recruiting class is coming along rather well. It’s now ranked 4th in the nation by 247 with 9 rated and 2 (yet) unrated commits. And no 5*’s yet 6!
That’s pretty good for a team that didn’t make the playoffs in 2019. It’s also halfway to the 22 or so players the Gators will be able to sign for this class… with the ink barely dry on the LOI’s for the 2020 class. THAT’s how you demonstrate recruiting success this decade… get ‘em to commit early!
GO GATORS!!!
Bah humbug. Everyone knows Dan Mullen can’t recruit. 😜
