Gators flip 2nd Miami OL commit in as many days

It’s no secret the Gators need help among the offensive line next season. The last 24 hours on the recruiting trail may have bolstered the future at the position, however.

First, Florida flipped Kingsley Eguakun from Miami on Sunday. And on Monday night, the Gators wrapped up a focused weekend of official visitors by flipping North Marion offensive lineman — and lifelong Florida fan — Michael Tarquin.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Tarquin seemed all but set to join the ‘Canes after committing in April, but the Gators got into the picture in October and the two parties set up an official visit for this past weekend.

With the addition of Tarquin, ranked the No. 23 offensive tackle prospect in the 2019 class in the 247Sports composite ranking, the Gators have 18 commitments.

  1. This kid is going to be a good one. Great footwork and strength, both of which will get much better under Havesty and Savage. Hopefully, Sanders will see the Gators OL of the future (anchored with Couriage and Tarquin at the tackle positions) and say “no” to Bama and yes to the Gators.

  2. two big wins in ocala, tarquin and the vanguard defensive lineman, both to join freddy swain! some of it, im sure is the opportunities opening up as we move kids to the nfl, but this is happy news. welcome to uf, guys!

  3. Welcome to glory, young men! You have made the right choice and your lives will be greater than you can ever imagine once you have come to the Savage land and walked the path of the champion through the dire SWAMP where only Gators come out ALIVE!!!!!
