The Florida Gators will not be sending James Robinson a letter of intent on National Signing Day.
According to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports, Gators coach Jim McElwain informed Robinson he will not receive a National Letter of Intent. The decision follows Robinson’s publicized run-in with the law during his official visit to Ohio State.

Robinson, the nation’s No. 14 wide receiver in the 2017 class by 247Sports, was reportedly issued a citation for misdemeanor possession of marijuana on Jan. 21.
According to the Lakeland Ledger, Robinson returned home the next day, but he’s due to be arraigned in court on March 1. A misdemeanor charge for possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana carries a maximum fine of $150 in the state of Ohio.

Chris Hays of the Orlando Sentinel reports the Gators coaching staff has actively been helping Robinson find another home since informing Lakeland administrators of the decision.
As a senior for Lakeland High, Robinson caught 43 passes for 816 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Gators have a verbal commitment from four-star wide receiver DaQuon Green (Tampa, Fl.), yet he’s the lone pass catcher currently committed to the 2017 class.
However, Andrew Spivey of Gator Country reports UF remains in play to flip four-star wide receiver Charleston Rambo from Oklahoma. Rambo took an official visit to Florida this past weekend.
