The final weekend before National Signing Day turned out to be Florida’s most significant period of the 2017 class.

The Gators landed a verbal commitment from three-star safety Donovan Stiner, the third prospect to commit to Florida’s 2017 class in the past 24 hours.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder out of Bellaire, Texas, spent the weekend in Gainesville on an official visit, giving coach Jim McElwain and his coaching staff an opportunity to flip Stiner’s commitment from the University of Houston.

The Gators have 17 verbal commitments, which are non-binding until a player has signed a letter of intent, in the 2017 class.
