The coaches are back on the road Dec. 5, and coach Jim McElwain is making an effort to flip one of the biggest recruits in the state of Florida.
McElwain and offensive line coach Mike Summers are in Pensacola seeing five-star offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood. The Alabama commit will reportedly take an official visit to Florida on Dec. 10.
Running backs coach is in New Orleans seeing four-star defensive back Brad Stewart. The McDonogh High product hasn’t visited any universities since July, but with his senior season nearing its conclusion it appears Stewart is refocusing on his recruitment.

Defensive coordinator Geoff Collins and defensive backs coach Torrian Gray were scheduled to visit four-star athlete Tray Bishop on Sunday, but the logistics didn’t work out. Instead, Gray and Collins will go in-home with the Auburn commit on Monday. The pair will then visit with four-star safety Xavier McKinney.
Meanwhile, Chris Rumph is heading to Decatur, Georgia, to visit Bulldogs defensive tackle commit Devonte Wyatt.
Tight ends coach Greg Nord is in Kennesaw seeing North Cobb (Ga.) linebacker Chandler Wooten. Nord will also stop in Marietta for an in-home visit with linebacker Solon Page III.
Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier is schedule to visit with the No. 1-ranked offensive player in the 2018 class, quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The Cartersville (Ga.) product has seemingly narrowed his decision to Georgia and Clemson, but the Gators have continued to stay in contact with Lawrence throughout his recruitment.
Nussmeier will then see four-star offensive tackle Tony Gray before visiting a pair of offensive linemen committed to the Bulldogs, Netori Johnson (Cedar Grove) and Andrew Thomas (Pace Academy).
Randy Shannon is in Ft. Lauderdale visiting with four-star American Heritage offensive lineman Kai-Leon Herbert.
A teammate of Gators commit Marco Wilson, Herbert has been committed to Michigan since July, but Florida has continued to try and flip Herbert. Shannon will also visit with four-star American Heritage offensive guard Tedarrell ‘T.J.” Slaton.
Gators wide receiver coach Kerry Dixon will be in Michigan with Cass Technical lineman Jordan Reid.
The Michigan State commit is the teammate of five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, who took an official visit to Gainesville on Nov. 12.
Dixon will wrap up today’s recruiting with a visit to the Detroit home of four-star defensive back Ambry Thomas.
