UPDATE: Wilson has pushed back his decision and no longer has a set date.

Florida appears to be on the verge of its first five-star commit for 2016.

Lyndell “Mack” Wilson, the nation’s top-ranked outside linebacker, has moved up his decision date.

Originally scheduled to make his commitment on signing day, Wilson will announce that pledge this Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 236-pounder named UF his leader in late September and has yet to change his stance on that. Wilson called Alabama his No. 2 school this past week.

Wilson’s teammate at Montgomery (Ala.) Carver, cornerback Antonio Nelson committed to the Gators last Monday. Florida safety commit Jeawon Taylor, another Alabama prospect, is Wilson’s childhood friend.

On Sunday, Taylor shared his thoughts on Wilson following his visit to UF.

Pineiro rides shotgun with McElwain

Not many kickers receive the attention Gators coach Jim McElwain showed Eddy Pineiro over the weekend.

One of six official visitors for UF, the Alabama commitment made his second trip to Gainesville this season after attending the Ole Miss game.

McElwain got out of the office Sunday and spent some one-on-one time with Pinerio, the nation’s No. 1-ranked junior college kicker, in an effort to flip the Miami native.

“We’ll get a kicker. That’s our responsibility, and we’ll get one,” McElwain said after the loss Florida State.

Gardner honored

Florida cornerback signee Chauncey Gardner’s senior season came to a disappointing end Friday, but he was awarded Sunday for the way he played as a senior.

Gardner, a two-way player for Cocoa, was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 4A Player of the Year.

The Under Armour All-American finished with 46 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions and one fumble recovery. Offensively, Gardner rushed for 410 yards and six touchdowns on 29 carries, and caught 12 passes for 235 yards and five scores.
