UF had a disappointing end to its regular season Saturday, but the night produced plenty of positives in recruiting.

Florida’s south end zone bleachers were jam-packed with recruits, including defensive end Brian Burns (6-6, 220) and tight end Nick Eubanks (6-6, 230).

The four-star teammates from Fort Lauderdale American Heritage were both high on the Gators despite their 27-2 loss to Florida State.

Brians named Florida and Georgia his co-leaders after the game, while Eubanks called UF his No. 1 school.

“They move up to the top on my list,” Eubanks said. “The chances with them are sky high. The atmosphere and the coaching staff here have made a big impact on me.

“Basically, what I think they’re missing is playmakers. The coaches told me that as well. I think I’ll fit well in this program, and most importantly they use tight ends a lot.”

Gators cornerback Quincy Wilson’s younger brother, 2017 four-star CB Marco Wilson, is teaamtes with Burns and Eubanks.

“Quincy has told me how close they are as a family, and the tradition speaks for itself,” Burns said. “It’s just a great school to come to.”

After Mark Richt’s firing, Burns told The Sun that UGA was still tied with UF at the top. But the Gators have to like their chances with him following his two-day trip to Gainesville.

“This visit really helped a lot,” Burns said. “I was able to see more in person. I saw how they run their defense and I really like it, and it works. The coaches told me they’re going to use me like Alex McCalister.”

Saturday was the first Florida game for the four-star teammates, and The Swamp won them over.

“I didn’t expect the atmosphere to be this wild, but it was crazy and I loved it,” Eubanks said. “When I came here in the summer, it was nothing like this.”

Said Burns: “It exceeded my expectations. I’ve heard about this stadium, but I didn’t think it would be that loud. These fans are a little more crazier than other places I’ve been. It was just really exciting.”

Eubanks has an official visit scheduled to Southern Cal on Jan. 20 and plans to take officials to Alabama, Florida and Oregon. Burns said he wants to officially visit Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and maybe LSU.

Neither of them have a timetable for their decisions at this time.
