Wide receiver George Campbell and defensive end Byron Cowart plan to decide much sooner than previously planned.
The five-star recruits from the Tampa area visited Florida together in early August.
UF has long been considered the favorite for both prospects, but right now it appears they could be headed to different schools.
Florida State is trending for Campbell following his trip to Tallahassee (with Cowart) late last month. The 6-foot-3, 183-pounder was one of the few UF targets who seemed upset about Joker Phillips’ resignation, and he hasn’t had much time to build a relationship with new receivers coach Chris Leak.
However, the Gators are still expected to land Cowart at this time. The 6-foot-3, 257-pounder named Oregon his leader in the spring, but he’s never visited the school and has a strong relationship with Florida defensive line coach Brad Lawing.
Sandifer announcing Wednesday
Offensive lineman Brandon Sandifer will announce his college choice Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
His finalists are Alabama, Florida and South Carolina.
The 6-foot-4, 328-pounder from Warner Robins (Ga.) Northside visited UF for Friday Night Lights, spending time with offensive line coach Mike Summers and a handful of current Gators.
Jefferson, McCloud visit Florida
UF hosted a few visitors over the weekend, highlighted by five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson (Glen Saint Mary Baker County) and Clemson running back commit Ray-Ray McCloud III (Tampa Sickles).
North Carolina wide receiver commit Javarius Davis (Jacksonville Ed White) and four-star running back Nyheim Hines (Garner, N.C.) also visited UF on Saturday.
